Types of Challenge Fund Awards

The URJA Challenge Fund is a transparent and competitive financing mechanism for selected enterprises with strong potential for revenue growth, employment generation and local economic impact.

The fund may support up to 75% of the enterprise’s growth requirement, including capital expenditure and working capital for one operating cycle.

URJA offers two types of awards:

Reward or grant

A grant may be awarded to selected enterprises based on the recommendation of an independent jury. Grant awards are intended for enterprises with strong growth potential and the ability to demonstrate commercial sustainability, job creation and replicability.

Soft loan at 0% interest

Eligible individual and group enterprises may receive a soft loan at zero percent interest, subject to the approved programme guidelines and repayment terms.

Eligibility for Applying for the Challenge Fund

To apply for the URJA Challenge Fund, the enterprise must belong to an SHG-member household and should preferably be women-owned or women-led.
